Special Education Teacher - Wichita, Kansas
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with significant disabilities as a Special Education Teacher on a contract assignment near Wichita, KS. Two full-time opportunities are available—one at the elementary level, the other at the secondary level—serving small case loads of approximately 10 students each. The ideal candidates are dedicated educators who hold valid low-incidence teaching licenses and are passionate about working in person to foster growth, independence, and academic achievement.
Qualifications:
- Current, valid low-incidence teaching license (required for consideration)
- Experience working with students with significant disabilities preferred
- Ability to create, implement, and adapt individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with families, staff, and support teams
- Commitment to compliance with all special education regulations and best practices
- Flexibility and adaptability in both elementary and secondary settings
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary instructor for a case load of approximately 10 students, tailoring instruction and intervention to meet diverse needs
- Develop and implement IEPs, track progress, and adjust plans as students grow
- Provide direct support in academic, behavioral, and life-skills domains
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, specialists, and administrative staff
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with families
This assignment runs from August 11, 2026, through May 19, 2027, with a commitment of 35–40 hours per week. All teaching must be performed in person.
