Special Education Teacher - Whitehall, Michigan
Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students on their educational journey! Multiple onsite positions are available for professionals with expertise in special education, focusing on Elementary Resource settings across both elementary and high school locations. These roles offer the opportunity to build strong connections with students and make a direct impact throughout the school year, beginning October 26, 2026, and ending June 10, 2027. Weekly hours total 37.5, ensuring a consistent schedule in vibrant and supportive school communities.
In this position, you will:
- Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students with disabilities within inclusive classroom environments.
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies to develop students' sensory, motor, language, cognitive, and memory skills.
- Deliver academic instruction through techniques such as phonics and multisensory learning, tailored to a variety of learning styles.
- Implement IEP goals and foster positive behavior using evidence-based supports and interventions.
- Modify and adapt general education curriculum using assistive technologies and innovative methods to address individualized learning needs.
- Design and lead instructional activities balancing direct teaching with guided practice and independent tasks.
- Collaborate with general educators, related service providers, administrators, and families to ensure the success and compliance of each student.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education plus a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, or a Bachelor’s and enrollment in a Michigan Department of Education-approved certification program.
- Previous classroom teaching experience in a comparable district is preferred.
