Special Education Teacher in Spring Lake, MI
Make a positive impact supporting students in a welcoming school environment! Multiple onsite contract positions are available at both elementary and high school levels within resource room settings. You’ll play an essential role in fostering the growth and development of students with disabilities from October 26, 2026, through June 10, 2027, with a weekly schedule of 37.5 hours.
In these roles, you will:
- Provide direct and indirect instructional support tailored to students’ unique needs, nurturing a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
- Use a wide range of teaching techniques—phonics, multisensory learning, and repetition—to deliver academic content effectively.
- Employ specialized strategies that enhance sensory, perceptual, motor, language, and cognitive skills.
- Implement IEP goals and teach essential social skills using positive behavior support approaches.
- Adapt the general education curriculum, leveraging assistive technology and proven instructional methods for individualized learning.
- Design and deliver engaging lessons, balancing direct teaching, guided activities, and independent learning.
- Partner closely with general education staff, related service providers, school leaders, and families to promote student achievement while meeting special education requirements.
Qualifications sought:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, or a bachelor’s degree with current enrollment in a Michigan Department of Education-approved certification program.
- Previous classroom teaching experience, preferably in a similar setting, is a strong plus.
