Special Education Teacher - Portales, NM

This role, based near Portales, NM, covers several grade levels and specialized areas across the academic year from August 10, 2026, through May 20, 2027.

Openings address immediate priority for high school English and Biology, requiring a valid high school certification. Additional needs span middle school resource programs, multiple elementary Intensive Learning Center classrooms, a flexible pullout/inclusion role, and Pre-K special education support. You'll work a consistent weekly schedule providing tailored intervention and facilitating student growth.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid New Mexico teaching licensure with applicable SPED and content area certifications
• Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
• Deep commitment to fostering positive learning environments for students with varying abilities
• Ability to adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet individualized learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction across assigned SPED caseloads and subject areas
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff
• Maintain accurate documentation and timely completion of IEPs, progress reports, and required records
• Engage students through differentiated instruction and evidence-based practices
• Foster family and community partnerships to support student success
