Special Ed Teacher - Overland Park, Kansas
Make a difference in the lives of students with special needs as a contract Special Education Teacher. This opportunity spans the 2026-2027 school year, with multiple positions available from elementary to high school, including specialized programs for life skills, autism, and behavioral support. Classrooms include elementary (10 openings), middle (5 openings), high school (4 openings), and two positions in the Bridges alternative program serving all ages with severe behaviors.

The assignment runs August 2026 through May 2027, providing the chance to immerse yourself in a passionate, focused educational setting during a full academic year.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Kansas teaching license in Special Education (must be presented prior to placement)
- Experience preferred in life skills, autism, or behavioral classrooms
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for adapting instruction to meet individual student needs
- Ability to thrive in classroom environments ranging from elementary to high school
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse needs
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Work closely with general education teachers, aides, and support staff
- Engage regularly with families to encourage student success
- Employ evidence-based strategies for managing challenging behaviors
