Special Education Teacher | Littleton, Colorado
Step into a fulfilling contract position supporting students with special needs across multiple North Denver area schools for the 2026-2027 school year. Full-time opportunities are available at a range of elementary and high school sites, specializing in Affective Needs (AN), Structured Learning Services (SLS), and Significant Support Needs (SSN) classrooms. Your expertise will be pivotal in helping K-12 students—many with significant autism needs, non-verbal profiles, or requiring AAC device support—develop essential academic, life, and communication skills.
Desired Background:
- Current Colorado Department of Education Certification with Special Education endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience with students who have significant autism, are non-verbal, and/or use AAC devices.
- Skilled at supporting students with emotional/behavioral disabilities, implementing de-escalation and positive behavioral interventions.
- Direct experience building life skills programs for elementary or secondary age groups.
- Strong grasp of data-driven teaching systems, with an ability to monitor and report student progress.
- Comfortable managing paraprofessionals and collaborating with other educators and specialists.
- Adaptable to varying classroom dynamics and individualized education plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction and behavioral supports in a center-based or inclusive classroom (K-12, depending on assignment).
- Implement accommodations and modifications as per IEPs; accurately document student progress.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Foster a safe, structured environment using evidence-based strategies and structured learning routines.
- Support and mentor paraprofessionals within the classroom.
- Proactively address behavioral challenges using positive behavior supports and de-escalation techniques.
- Collaborate closely with related service providers and school teams.
