Special Education Teacher - Lakeville, Minnesota
Make a difference in the lives of students by supporting a diverse learning community as a Special Education Teacher. Multiple contract opportunities (ASAP through June 11, 2026) are now available, with seven different positions covering autism (ASD), early childhood special education (ECSE), developmental cognitive disabilities (DCD), and homebound services. These roles are based in a vibrant, collaborative school district near Lakeville, MN—teaching in various settings from classrooms to itinerant and homebound assignments.
You’ll play an instrumental role in fostering growth, inclusion, and academic progress for students requiring specialized instruction and support. Each position provides the opportunity to build lasting relationships with students, families, and colleagues, while gaining valuable experience in unique educational environments.
What you need to succeed:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license with Special Education certification (required)
- Experience teaching in special education, preferably with knowledge of ASD, DCD, ECSE, or inclusion strategies
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to personalized support, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with other educators and service providers
- Adaptable and organized, able to manage varied caseloads (caseloads range from 4–19 students)
- Must be able to work on-site at designated school locations
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to specific disabilities and settings (Settings 1, 2, 3, and 4; homebound service as needed)
- Collaborate regularly with families, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and school leadership
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations
- Support inclusive education and positive behavioral interventions across school environments
