Special Education Teacher - Grand Haven, MI

With multiple openings available at both elementary schools and a high school near Grand Haven, MI, you will work onsite providing instruction in resource room settings to help diverse learners reach their highest potential.
Your role involves delivering direct and indirect instructional support to students with disabilities in positive, inclusive classrooms. You’ll utilize specialized strategies to foster growth in sensory, motor, language, cognitive, and memory skills, adapting teaching methods such as phonics and multisensory learning to meet a variety of needs. Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, apply positive behavior support, and modify general education curriculum using evidence-based practices and assistive technology.
Collaboration is key; you’ll partner closely with general education staff, related service professionals, administrators, and families to design and monitor student programs and uphold special education standards.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate as required by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE); or
- Bachelor’s Degree and current enrollment in a state-approved MDE-recognized teacher certification program
- Preferred: Previous experience teaching in a similar school environment
