Special Education Teacher - Cottage Grove, MN

Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities Teacher working with young learners in a supportive elementary school environment. This full-time contract role is perfect for a Special Education Teacher passionate about nurturing growth in students with unique needs.

You’ll enjoy a consistent schedule from 8am-4pm, serving students in grades K-2, with a manageable caseload of approximately 10 children. The assignment will begin at the end of February and continue through early June 2027, allowing you to provide sustained, impactful support.

Skills & Experience Desired:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
• Valid teaching license with Special Education endorsement
• Experience working with students who have developmental cognitive disabilities
• Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Compassion, patience, and flexibility to meet diverse learner needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized instructional plans for students with developmental cognitive disabilities
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, specialists, and general education teachers to support inclusive education
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Utilize evidence-based strategies to foster academic, social, and emotional growth
• Participate in all required meetings, professional development, and school activities
