Special Education Teacher | Cannon Afb, New Mexico
Take the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a contract role serving various grade levels and needs. This assignment runs from August 10, 2026, through May 20, 2027, providing a structured schedule of 37.5 hours weekly and the chance to work onsite in a dynamic educational environment.
Openings are available for eight professionals covering high-priority high school needs in English and Biology (both require appropriate high school certification), as well as positions in middle school resource classrooms, elementary Intensive Learning Center (ILC) support, a combination pullout/inclusion caseload, and PreK special education.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Current New Mexico state licensure in Special Education (or eligibility for NM licensure)
- For high school positions: valid high school teacher certification in English or Biology, as applicable
- Previous experience working with diverse student populations and a range of learning needs
- Strong classroom management and collaborative skills
- Ability to foster positive, inclusive learning environments and communicate effectively with staff, families, and students
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized instruction based on IEPs across assigned classrooms
- Collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success
- Developing, implementing, and tracking progress on educational and behavioral strategies
- Maintaining detailed documentation in accordance with school and state requirements
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development
