Sign Language Interpreter in Waverly, NE

A new opportunity awaits for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential support in an educational environment. This full-time contract position involves working with elementary students, fostering accessible communication and an inclusive classroom culture. The role is onsite, with work hours from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm, and is expected to run until May 20, 2027.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid EIPA score of 3.0 or higher (required)
• Experience in an educational setting, preferably working with elementary-aged children
• Proficient fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Strong ability to foster clear, supportive communication between students and staff
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and able to follow school protocols

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom lessons and school communications between staff and deaf or hard-of-hearing students using ASL
• Provide support during instructional and non-instructional school activities
• Collaborate with educators and other school staff to ensure students’ academic and social participation
• Maintain accurate records of services provided and adhere to all school policies and guidelines
• Assist in the preparation and adaptation of instructional materials when needed
