Sign Language Interpreter in Savannah, GA
Step into an important role providing direct support for a high school student in an adaptive classroom environment. You'll serve as a dedicated sign language interpreter for a student who uses a wheelchair, enabling access to comprehensive educational services throughout the academic year. This is an onsite contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience in K-12 educational settings
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (applicants with a lower score are encouraged to discuss suitability)
- Skilled in facilitating communication for students with diverse physical and learning needs
- Able to collaborate effectively with special education teachers and support staff
Role Expectations:
- Provide high-quality interpreting and communication support in an adaptive classroom
- Assist the student in participating in all classroom activities and assignments
- Work closely with teaching staff to meet Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals
- Adapt signing methods to match the student’s academic and personal communication needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Communicate regularly with educators and family to ensure consistency and progress
