Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required
- Experience working with students with disabilities, especially in adaptive classroom settings
- Comfortable providing comprehensive communication support for students in wheelchairs
- Professionalism and the ability to collaborate with educators and related service providers
- Dedication to fostering inclusive, accessible learning environments
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time interpreting services for a high school student within their classroom, ensuring all educational content and peer interactions are accessible
- Provide compensatory services as directed, adapting communication approaches as needed for individualized support
- Serve as an active member of the student’s educational team, participating in meetings and supporting Individualized Education Program (IEP) implementation
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards as outlined by national and state interpreting organizations
- Adapt interpreting strategies and techniques to meet the learning and social needs of the student
