The student requires comprehensive communication services and uses a wheelchair, making your skills essential for engagement and participation. All interpreting will take place onsite, as requested by the family.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, specifically in educational environments
- EIPA score of 3.5 or above
- Experience working with students with special needs is highly regarded
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom educators and support staff
- Strong commitment to facilitating a fully accessible learning environment
- Current relevant certification (please have available for submission)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpreting for a high school student within an adaptive classroom
- Support comprehensive communication, ensuring all classroom activities and instructions are accessible
- Collaborate with teachers and service providers to adapt resources as needed
- Foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for student success
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all professional standards and school protocols
