Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Littleton, Colorado
Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to make a meaningful difference in educational settings. This full-time, full school year contract role provides an opportunity to support students across a spectrum of needs—from mild to severe—in both special education and general education environments. Working as an itinerant interpreter, you will collaborate with multiple schools, ensuring access to instruction and communication for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Authorization for educational sign language interpreting required
- Successful completion of the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a score of at least 3.5
- Previous experience in K-12 educational settings highly valued
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with interpreting in diverse classroom environments
- Ability to adapt quickly and travel between multiple school sites
- Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and commitment to student success
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, student-teacher conversations, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
- Support communication access for students with a range of needs, including those in both special education and general education programs
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and related service providers to help integrate interpreting services into students’ educational plans
- Maintain confidentiality while supporting each student’s independence and integration
- Travel to assigned sites and adapt services as the students’ needs evolve throughout the school year
