Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Eagle, Nebraska
Make a real difference in the lives of elementary students by supporting communication and access in the classroom. We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to work onsite with elementary-aged learners for the upcoming academic year. This engaging contract assignment follows the school calendar, with flexible schedule options: full day (7:45am-3:15pm) or afternoons (11:00am-3:15pm).
You’ll collaborate directly with staff and students at an elementary school, providing essential sign language interpreting services to facilitate learning and inclusion.
What you bring:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with school-based interpreting experience strongly preferred.
- Provisional licensure considered if EIPA score is below 4.0.
- Familiarity with elementary-level academic vocabulary and classroom routines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
- Commitment to confidentiality, student advocacy, and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work onsite throughout the contract term.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing clear and effective sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, small groups, and school activities.
- Supporting communication access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Collaborating with teachers, special education staff, and families as a valued member of the educational team.
- Adapting interpreting techniques to meet varying needs and content areas.
- Maintaining accurate records and adhering to ethical guidelines.
