Step into a vital role shaping student development through music therapy in a supportive educational setting. This part-time contract opportunity runs from August 11, 2026, through May 26, 2027, offering the flexibility to design your weekly schedule across 15-20 hours. As an itinerant therapist, you will deliver individualized and group music therapy across multiple campuses, working directly with students of various ages and supporting their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • National certification as a Music Therapist
  • Experience in schools, either as a School Therapist or Art Therapist
  • In-depth understanding of music therapy techniques, assessment protocols, and therapy service documentation
  • Familiarity with IEP requirements and a variety of student needs, including autism and developmental disabilities
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide and document therapy services in compliance with federal and state laws
  • Willingness to complete district-required fingerprinting (unless already on record)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide music therapy sessions both individually and in groups on assigned campuses
  • Develop therapy schedules that align with student needs and IEP compliance
  • Assess students, establish eligibility for therapy, and support IEP goal-setting
  • Participate in ARD Committees, offering insights on placements and objectives
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, administrators, and parents to maximize student benefit
  • Foster a nurturing and structured environment for all activities
  • Implement effective student management and discipline practices
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, suggest improvements, and assist in music equipment selection
  • Accurately maintain documentation and reports as required
  • Engage in professional development to enhance your skills and service delivery
