This itinerant, part-time opportunity is perfect for those with a passion for making a difference through creative therapeutic approaches. Working with a diverse group of students, you’ll deliver individual and group music therapy sessions, develop adaptive strategies to help meet IEP goals, and collaborate closely with educators and families.

Key Qualifications:

  • National Certification as a Music Therapist required
  • Experience with school-based therapy and familiarity with IEP procedures
  • Skilled in assessment, planning, and documentation of music therapy services
  • Strong understanding of interventions for students with autism and developmental disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment and strategies in music therapy
  • Ability to successfully pass district fingerprinting requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Provide music therapy services aligned with student IEPs
  • Assess students to determine eligibility and document progress via reports and records
  • Create and implement both individual and group therapy schedules
  • Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings
  • Design, construct, or modify adaptive musical devices as needed
  • Consult and collaborate with school staff, administrators, and parents
  • Deliver staff development for promoting understanding of music therapy programs
  • Support an environment that encourages student achievement and appropriate behavioral management
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and district policies
