School Therapist in Missouri City, TX
Step into a meaningful role as a Music Therapist contracted to support students in a dynamic school setting. This itinerant, part-time opportunity is perfect for those with a passion for making a difference through creative therapeutic approaches. Working with a diverse group of students, you’ll deliver individual and group music therapy sessions, develop adaptive strategies to help meet IEP goals, and collaborate closely with educators and families.
Key Qualifications:
- National Certification as a Music Therapist required
- Experience with school-based therapy and familiarity with IEP procedures
- Skilled in assessment, planning, and documentation of music therapy services
- Strong understanding of interventions for students with autism and developmental disabilities
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment and strategies in music therapy
- Ability to successfully pass district fingerprinting requirements
Responsibilities:
- Provide music therapy services aligned with student IEPs
- Assess students to determine eligibility and document progress via reports and records
- Create and implement both individual and group therapy schedules
- Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings
- Design, construct, or modify adaptive musical devices as needed
- Consult and collaborate with school staff, administrators, and parents
- Deliver staff development for promoting understanding of music therapy programs
- Support an environment that encourages student achievement and appropriate behavioral management
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and district policies
