As an itinerant therapist, you’ll collaborate across multiple school sites, supporting a diverse range of students and educators.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • National certification in Music Therapy required
  • Experience or expertise working with school-aged children, including students with autism or developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of assessment tools, adaptive equipment, and strategies for music therapy
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to consult collaboratively with educational teams and families
  • Familiarity with IEP documentation and compliance

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide individual and group music therapy in alignment with student IEPs and campus goals
  • Assess students with disabilities, evaluating progress and determining service eligibility
  • Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, Dismissal) meetings for student placement and goal-setting
  • Consult with staff, parents, and administrators to optimize support and understanding of music therapy’s benefits
  • Train school personnel on program strategies and adaptive materials
  • Create engaging, developmentally-appropriate environments for learning and student growth
  • Manage required documentation and compliance with district and state regulations
  • Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance your skills
