Para Professional in Waverly, NY

Make a direct impact supporting students as a dedicated paraprofessional in a vibrant educational setting. This contract opportunity runs through June 18, 2027, and offers positions in several regional schools, focusing on providing essential 1:1 and classroom support to students with a range of developmental, medical, and mobility needs.

What you'll bring:

• Certification as a New York State Teaching Assistant (for Assistant positions)
• Previous experience in preschool or school settings, ideally with behavioral needs (for Aide roles)
• CNA or similar credential (for medically involved assignments)
• Comfort and competence working with wheelchair-bound students
• Ability to provide dedicated support for students with autism spectrum disorder or multiple disabilities
• Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach
• Reliability and commitment to a full 32.5-hour work week

Key responsibilities:

• Offer direct, individualized support as a 1:1 teaching assistant in special education programs
• Help students with mobility, including transfers and positioning for those who use wheelchairs
• Assist with personal care and medical needs as required
• Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment for learning and development
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other aides/assistants
• Support implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Contribute to a team approach ensuring student safety and engagement
