Qualifications—bring one or more of the following:
- Associate’s degree or higher, OR 48+ college units and high school diploma
- Passing score on CBEST and high school diploma, OR passing the instructional aide exam and high school diploma
- Certain special assignments may also require: CPR/First Aid certification (provided by district), vocational nursing license, successful completion of specialized health modules or annual emergency training
- For S10Q: Minimum of one year’s experience with students with significant social-emotional or behavioral needs
- For S20D: Proficiency in sign language and understanding of deaf culture
- For S20V: Braille and vision impairment education preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students across a variety of settings (Pre-K through high school, including those with intensive needs)
- Assist with daily care tasks that may include toileting, feeding (including G-tube or specialized health procedures if trained), and personal hygiene
- Facilitate inclusion by supporting academic, social, and behavioral growth—your adaptability is valued!
- Bus aide roles involve transportation support from central locations to students’ homes and school sites
- Collaborate closely as a flexible, positive team player—willingness to work wherever assigned is essential
Assignment hours vary by age group, ranging from part-time Pre-K placements to full-time bus aide roles. All paraprofessionals must be prepared for hands-on, all-encompassing student support, as needs and assignments can shift daily.
