Instructional Aide in Portsmouth, NH
Step into a vital support role helping students thrive in an engaging, inclusive educational environment. This is a contract opportunity for four paraprofessionals in a well-regarded middle school setting near Portsmouth, NH. You'll assist both on a one-to-one basis and within classroom groups, contributing directly to students' success over the full academic year.
You'll work closely with certified teachers and staff to provide essential assistance to students, reinforcing lesson material, encouraging positive behaviors, and offering guidance both academically and socially. Key Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in schools is required
- High school diploma as the minimum educational credential; no additional para certification or higher education needed
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to follow directions in both classroom and one-on-one settings
- Able to provide three professional references, including your most recent manager, before an interview
- Reliability and commitment to the full contract term
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support assigned students in classrooms or on a one-to-one basis, as directed
- Help reinforce lessons presented by teachers and aid in classroom management
- Encourage students' engagement and participation in activities
- Support students with a variety of academic and behavioral needs
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a nurturing environment
In addition to the fulfilling nature of this role, you’ll appreciate a consistent weekday schedule—32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:10am to 2:10pm with a half-hour lunch break (unpaid). The assignment runs from September 1, 2026, through June 16, 2027, providing stability and routine.
