Special Education Para Professional in Naperville, IL
Support and encourage exceptional students by working as a paraprofessional in an elementary autism program. Located close to Naperville, IL, this role offers consistent weekday hours (8am-3pm) in a supportive school setting. You’ll collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families, gaining valuable experience and professional growth while positively impacting your community. Compensation for this position is set at $26 per hour.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience working as a paraprofessional or supporting students in a school environment preferred
- Patience and passion for working with elementary-aged children on the autism spectrum, ranging from mild to significant needs
- State paraprofessional license required; candidates without a current license may apply and pursue short-term approval after an offer (streamlined process)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability and a strong sense of accountability in supporting students with special needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on assistance to individual students or small groups with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional tasks in the classroom
- Promote a positive, inclusive environment tailored to students’ unique needs and goals
- Implement teacher-directed lesson plans, reinforcing learning and fostering independence
- Assist students with daily routines, transitions, and personal care as needed
- Collaborate closely with instructional and support staff to monitor student progress
