Instructional Assistant - Lansdale, PA
Step into a dynamic school setting as a Paraprofessional supporting students with severe autism and behavioral needs. Multiple contract roles are available, working with K-8 or high school-age students in a highly structured environment devoted to safety and positive outcomes. This position begins with a mandatory, in-person orientation week, followed by full-time, weekday shifts from 7:30 AM–3:00 PM for the remainder of the school year. Assignment locations may vary, depending on needs, and dedicated professionals can make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
Qualifications & Key Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom (PreK-12) working with severe autism and behavioral needs—must appear clearly on resume
- Residence within a 35-minute commute
- Commitment to the full work schedule and orientation week
- Ability to assist with intensive behavioral and safety interventions, including hands-on care (feeding, toileting, transfers)
- Holds (or willing to complete within 60 days) one of the PA paraprofessional qualifications:
- 48+ college credits
- Associate’s degree or above
- Successful completion of the PDE/PaTTAN certification modules
- Two supervisor references from similar roles
- Understands full credentialing requirements and necessary clearances
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, daily support to students with severe autism and high-intensity behavioral needs
- Implement structured behavior plans and safety measures
- Collaborate with teaching teams and related service providers
- Maintain a safe, positive, and high-engagement classroom environment
- Support students’ skill development, communication, and daily living tasks
