Instructional Aide - Bensalem, PA
Make a significant impact supporting students with severe autism in a dedicated, structured educational environment. We are seeking experienced paraprofessionals for contract roles working with high-intensity, severe needs populations at the elementary (K-8) or high school level. These positions serve students with complex behavioral and safety needs, including those who may exhibit aggressive or self-injurious behaviors. Assignments may be placed at one of several local schools, depending on current openings and organizational needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of paraprofessional experience in a school special education program (PreK-12), specifically working with children with severe autism and behavioral challenges, clearly detailed on your resume
- Ability to commute within 35 minutes of the area and work the full-time schedule (Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:00 PM)
- Willingness to attend and fully participate in a mandatory week-long orientation prior to assignment
- Comfortable providing direct care—including hands-on support with toileting, diapering, feeding, physical transfers, and implementing safety interventions
- Capable of remaining engaged, alert, and active throughout the school day
- Ability to meet at least one Pennsylvania paraprofessional qualification (48 college credits, associate's degree or higher, or completion of PA competency modules). If not yet certified, must be willing to complete the required seven-module training and certification process within 60 days of hire
Responsibilities:
- Support students with severe autism in meeting educational, behavioral, and safety goals
- Implement structured behavioral plans and interventions under teacher and supervisor guidance
- Assist students with daily living and communication needs, including providing any required personal care
- Maintain detailed documentation as required by school and agency
