School Occupational Therapist | Berwyn, Illinois
Make an impact as an Occupational Therapist supporting students in an Adaptive Behavior Learning Environment (ABLE) program. This full-time contract role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team and provide services for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. With a 32.5 hour work week (8am-3pm, half-hour unpaid lunch), you’ll manage a caseload of 34 students and play a key role in their growth and development.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current Occupational Therapy (OT) license and registration
- Experience working with K-12 students, particularly in a school-based or similar setting
- Familiarity with adaptive behavior and supportive strategies for students with diverse needs
- Skilled in developing and implementing IEP goals
- Ability to collaborate with educators, support staff, and parents to ensure student success
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students within the ABLE program
- Assess student needs and adapt interventions to support their educational and functional goals
- Document progress and contribute to IEP meetings, developing individualized plans in collaboration with the team
- Educate and consult with teachers and families on best practices, accommodations, and modifications
- Use creativity, empathy, and evidence-based practices to help students thrive in both academic and day-to-day activities
- Maintain professional standards and ensure compliance with state, federal, and district requirements
