Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) - Sanford, Florida
Passionate about supporting students' independence and mobility? A rewarding contract is available for a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist to serve K-12 learners for the 2026-2027 school year. This on-site position centers on compensatory services and direct therapy, with occasional evaluations as needed. You’ll engage with students across multiple campuses near Sanford and Oviedo, helping them build critical orientation and mobility skills for academic and everyday success.
Key Qualifications:
- National Orientation and Mobility Specialist licensure
- Vision certification required
- Experience working with K-12 students in educational settings
- Valid driver’s license and social security card
- Ability to provide physical copies of all professional credentials
- Successful completion of field print fingerprinting
- Capability to complete supporting credentialing and demographic forms as required
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct orientation and mobility therapy primarily for compensatory services
- Administer evaluations to determine student needs, as necessary
- Design and implement individualized plans to foster independence and spatial awareness
- Collaborate with educational teams, families, and other service providers to support students’ growth
- Travel between campuses within the assigned areas as needed
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation in compliance with program and state guidelines
