Science Teacher in Chicago, IL

A contract opportunity awaits for a dedicated Health Science Teacher at a junior high school, helping students build a strong foundation in science and health concepts. Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Active teaching license and Professional Educator License (PEL) required (substitute licensure not accepted)
• Health science endorsement preferred; candidates with endorsements in chemistry, anatomy, or general science are also encouraged to apply
• Experience teaching general education science at the middle or junior high level is a plus
• Strong classroom management skills and a passion for engaging diverse learners
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues to support student growth

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive health science lessons to junior high students, utilizing a variety of teaching methods
• Create a stimulating, supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and scientific inquiry
• Assess student understanding, provide meaningful feedback, and tailor instruction to meet class and individual needs
• Contribute to curriculum development, work collaboratively with the science department, and participate in school activities
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with families as needed
