Science General Education Teacher | Calumet City, Illinois

A dedicated Health Science Teacher is needed for a contract position through May 2027 at a junior high campus near Calumet City, IL. In this on-site role, you’ll bring your passion for health, anatomy, chemistry, or general science into a supportive learning environment, inspiring and guiding students as they explore the world of health sciences.
What we're looking for:
- Active Illinois Teaching License and Professional Educator License (PEL) required (substitute licenses are not accepted)
- Preference for a Health Science endorsement; related endorsements such as science, chemistry, or anatomy are valued
- Experience teaching general education, particularly in science or health, is strongly preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Enthusiasm for working with junior high students in an on-site educational setting
Key responsibilities:
- Teach health science curricula to students in grades 6-8, using engaging and interactive methods
- Develop lesson plans and assessments in alignment with state standards and curricular goals
- Maintain accurate student records, monitor progress, and provide feedback to students and parents
- Foster an inclusive, positive classroom environment that nurtures student growth in both content and character
- Collaborate with fellow educators and participate actively in school community activities
This full-time contract position offers a consistent weekly schedule of 33.75 hours on-campus, providing stability and the ability to build lasting relationships with your students.
