Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) - Oakland, California

This contract opportunity requires a skilled educator ready to travel between sites and deliver high-quality physical education to students with varying abilities.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid California teaching credential with authorization for Adaptive Physical Education
- Demonstrated experience in APE or related special education roles
- Ability to work effectively in an itinerant (traveling) capacity across multiple school sites
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and fellow educators
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all learners
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide adaptive physical education instruction for students with diverse needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Adapt activities and equipment to ensure accessibility for all students
- Maintain accurate records and progress reports in compliance with district and state requirements
- Travel to various schools within the district as part of the itinerant assignment
- Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions as needed
Contract Details:
- 184-day contract running from August 11, 2026, through June 4, 2027
- Full-time schedule: 35 hours per week, on-site only
Additional Information:
- Pay ranges from $63 to $67 per hour, factoring in the Healthy San Francisco employer benefits obligation
