Make a meaningful impact as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher serving students across a dynamic school setting. In this rewarding contract position, you'll provide specialized instruction and support to help students with diverse needs thrive physically, emotionally, and socially. The position runs from August 11, 2026, through June 4, 2027, following a 184-day academic calendar, with a schedule of 35 hours per week in a fully onsite role.

What You’ll Need:

  • Valid California teaching credential in Adaptive Physical Education
  • Previous experience as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with itinerant teaching models and the ability to adapt to multiple school sites
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment for all students
  • Flexibility to manage changing caseloads and various physical education settings
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to track progress notes, IEP goals, and service documentation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver adaptive physical education instruction to K-12 students with a variety of disabilities
  • Travel to multiple school sites as needed throughout the district
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other professionals
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized lesson plans and IEP goals
  • Assess student needs and provide strategies for inclusion in general physical education when appropriate
  • Maintain clear communication with parents/guardians and document student progress
  • Promote physical wellness and confidence through creative, engaging activities
