School-Based ASL Interpreter – Las Vegas, NM

Are you an experienced ASL Interpreter looking to make a positive impact? We have a full-time, school-based position in Las Vegas, New Mexico to support a 4th-grade student in an elementary setting. The role is available ASAP and will renew for the 2025/2026 school year. Don’t miss the chance to work with a dedicated team and make a real difference in the lives of students!

Responsibilities:

• Support ASL communication and academic skills for a 4th-grade student.
• Provide tutoring in ASL and communication skills, along with ASL-English interpretation.
• Collaborate with the Deaf ASL mentor to follow a specialized curriculum based on ASL CIA guidelines.
• Lead staff training and awareness programs for working with D/HH students.
• Interpret for field trips to Deaf community events.
• Complete Medicaid billing for services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Participate in state testing as a test administrator for students with accommodations.

Qualifications:

• Current NM Public Education Department License for Interpreter for the Deaf required.
• Knowledge of ASL and Deaf community practices preferred.

Position Details:

• Classroom: Elementary (4th grade)
• Hours per Week: 15-20 hours per week
• Weekly Pay: Competitive, based on experience
• Benefits: Comprehensive package including Dental, Medical, Vision, and 401K plan
• Contract Duration: ASAP – End of school year with the potential to extend for 2025/2026.
