Orientation & Mobility Specialist – Surprise, AZ
Part-Time | K-12 Caseload | 2024-2025 School Year

Join our dynamic educational team in Surprise, AZ as an Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist! If you're passionate about helping students develop independence and life skills through orientation and mobility training, this position is for you.

Responsibilities:

• Provide orientation and mobility services for students with visual impairments, K-12.
• Conduct assessments to determine mobility needs and create individualized plans.
• Teach students to safely navigate their environment, including streets, school buildings, and other public spaces.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate O&M strategies into daily activities.
• Provide consultation to families and school teams to support student success.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• National Certification for Orientation & Mobility (must maintain).
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Activity bus certification (for student travel).
• Strong communication skills and experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments.

Position Details:

• Classroom: K-12
• Hours per Week: Part-Time (3 days per week; 8 hours per day)
• Location: Surprise, AZ

Weekly Pay: Competitive and based on experience

Contract Duration:

• SY 2024-2025, with potential for summer school extension.
